Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50 Review

Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50

What is a sunscreen?
A sunscreen is a product combining several ingredients that help prevent the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation from reaching the skin.

Why to use sunscreen?
Using sunscreen decreases the chances of sunburns.
Two types of ultraviolet radiation UVA and UVB damage the skin, age it prematurely, and increase your risk of skin cancer.
Therefore using sunscreen is important.

Do I need sunscreen?
YES. Everyone needs sunscreen. Whether girl or boy, using sunscreen is mandatory for all. People with low melanin should start applying sunscreen from early age, whereas people with high melanin should start applying sunscreen from teenage. This is because the ozone layer is depleting and your body needs shielding from harmful rays. In order to protect your skin from the harmful rays wear a good sunscreen.

Types of sunscreens:
There are many forms of sunscreen,
  • Gel Sunscreen
  • Cream Sunscreen
  • Sunscreen lotions
  • Sunscreen wipes
  • Spray Sunscreen
  • Powder Sunscreen
Now it's up to you to choose any type of sunscreen based on your skin type. But I recommend broad spectrum sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection, a SPF rating of 30 or higher and is gentle enough to wear everyday.
So now with all the basics cleared, let's move on to the review.

Review:
So today i'll be reviewing a sunscreen from a herbal brand Lotus named, Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel with SPF 50.

Price:
395 rupees for 100 g

Packaging:
I like the packaging. It comes in an Orange plastic tube with a flip cap. Easy to handle and is not very heavy, you can easily carry it with you anywhere.

What it claims:
An innovative sunblock which is totally non-oily and provides a fresh and clean finish to the face, neck and hands. It protects against all forms of sun induced damage: skin tan, sun burn, pre-mature ageing and skin cancer.
Contains extract of Horse chestnut, Comfrey and Vanilla.
It has PA+++ and SPF 50.

Directions:
Apply liberally and evenly on face and exposed parts of the body. Reapply frequently, every 2 hours for best results.

Skin Type:
Normal to oily.

How to use it:
Just take a pea sized amount of gel on the palm of your hands and dot it all over your face, neck, hands, legs and to whichever part you feel like comes in direct contact with the sun. Now massage it very gently all over in circular motion. Remember always apply it 10 minutes after you've applied your moisturizer. Let the moisturizer soak in completely in your skin, then go for applying his gel. Similarly apply other products after 10 minutes of application of this gel so as to let it sink in completely. You can also use it as a makeup base.

My Experience:
I have normal skin, and this works great for normal skin.
The gel has white color and mild fragrance.
It is non-oily, non-sticky, gets absorbed very quickly and gives a matte look.
It never leaves white cast on your face it gets absorbed into your skin very well.
I've been using this for a month now and the best part is that it never made my skin break out.
When applied it gives a cooling effect.
However it washes off easily with water or sweat and it is not water resistant, it needs reapplication every 2 hours, and I am not quite satisfied with the results as I still suffer from tanning after applying it.

Pros:
  • Non-sticky and non-oily
  • Gives matte look
  • It never made my skin break out
  • Has SPF 50
  • Easily available

Cons:
  • 395 rupees for 100 g is a bit costly compared with the quality
  • Needs reapplication after every 2 hours (com'on who has time to re-apply it every 2 hours)
  • You may still get tanned even after reapplying it every 2 hours
  • Washes off easily

Hacks.ify rating:  3/5

Will I repurchase it?
Most probably no, as I've said already I still got tanned and it is a bit costly

Do I recommend it:
Yes. I do recommend it. Just give it a try. Who knows it might work well for you and you may wanna repurchase it again. It is good for every skin type.
